ERIE, Pa. — Gannon extended its winning streak to five matches with a dominant 7-0 victory over Slippery Rock on Wednesday, showcasing the regional powerhouse's offensive firepower in a lopsided Division II matchup. The Knights, now 9-2-4, controlled possession throughout and capitalized on defensive lapses to build an insurmountable lead.
The first half remained scoreless despite Gannon's territorial advantage. Slippery Rock's defense held firm through 45 minutes, though the visitors managed only four shots on goal compared to Gannon's nine. The stalemate masked the home team's growing dominance in midfield, where they dominated corner kicks 10-1 and limited Slippery Rock's attacking opportunities.
Manuel Pereyra opened the scoring in the 41st minute, assisted by Shota Toyama and Rafa Hyde, breaking through Slippery Rock's backline. Sverre Orten doubled the advantage in the 47th minute with help from Toyama, giving Gannon momentum early in the second half. Hyde then scored twice within minutes—first in the 55th minute off an assist from Dominik Varga and Kasper Alfei Saebo, then again in the 58th minute with Enzo Rekka providing the setup.
Pereyra added his second goal in the 61st minute, assisted by Hyde, extending Gannon's lead to 5-0. The Knights' attacking rhythm proved unstoppable as Slippery Rock's defense deteriorated. Gabin Lonjard receive
