STEVENS POINT, Wis. — Wis.-Eau Claire's Ramzi Ouro scored three goals to lead the Blugolds to a dominant 3-0 shutout victory over host Wis.-Stevens Point on Thursday night. The visiting student-athletes improved to 11-2-4 with the road win, while the home Pointers fell to 12-4-3 after the loss.
The first half remained scoreless as both teams struggled to break through defensively. Stevens Point had early chances, including a shot by Jaxon Buckley in the 36th minute, but Eau Claire's defense held firm. The Blugolds created opportunities of their own, with Tate McDermott's blocked shot in the 17th minute and Noah Malcook's miss in the 34th minute representing their best first-half efforts.
Eau Claire's offensive breakthrough came early in the second half. Ouro scored in the 47th minute, assisted by Tate McDermott and Noah Malcook, to give the Blugolds a 1-0 lead. The goal opened the floodgates for the visiting scholar-athletes, who controlled possession for the remainder of the match.
Ouro struck again in the 61st minute with assists from Alek Laroi and Carson Kowalski, extending Eau Claire's advantage to 2-0. The goal came shortly after Devin Wilkerson received a red card for dissent, leaving Stevens Point with a numerical disadvantage for the final 30 minutes of play.
