SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Vanguard earned a decisive 2-0 victory over Westmont on Wednesday, extending its winning streak to two matches with a dominant second-half performance. The visiting Lions controlled the match through 90 minutes, outshooting the home Warriors 20-8 overall and 9-6 on target.

The first half remained scoreless despite Vanguard's offensive pressure. Kate Burns generated multiple chances for the visitors, while Westmont's defense held firm through the opening 45 minutes. Skyler McNamara and Kaia Diederichs created opportunities for the home side but couldn't find the breakthrough before halftime.

Francesca Lindstrom broke the deadlock in the 44th minute, assisted by Kaitlyn Currier, giving Vanguard a 1-0 lead heading into the break. The goal proved pivotal, shifting momentum decisively toward the away side.

Abby Grabowski doubled the advantage in the 60th minute, sealing Vanguard's victory. The Lions' second-half adjustments proved effective, with their attacking players creating consistent scoring opportunities while Westmont struggled to generate sustained offensive pressure.

Vanguard's defense limited Westmont's chances throughout the second half, with goalkeeper making seven saves. The Warriors managed six shots on goal but couldn't overcome the deficit. Both teams matched each other with six corner kicks apiece, though neither side capitalized on set-piece opportunities.

The victory improves Vanguard to 5-7-1 overall, building momentum after consecutive wins
