ATHERTON, Calif. — Chaminade and Menlo battled to a 1-1 draw Thursday in a NCAA Division II matchup that showcased defensive resilience from both regional competitors. Marianna Carpenter's 43rd-minute strike gave the visiting Silverswords an early advantage, but Kaylin Gonzalez equalized for the hosts in the 51st minute, leaving both teams searching for their first win of the week.

The match remained scoreless through the opening 40 minutes despite several chances for each side. Chaminade's Haley Mo'okini tested Menlo's defense multiple times, while Menlo's Lyla Devereaux came close with a shot that struck the woodwork in the 27th minute. The breakthrough finally arrived when Carpenter capitalized on a set piece, receiving a pass from Kaila Levoit to give Chaminade a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Menlo responded decisively after the interval. Just six minutes into the second half, Gonzalez found the back of the net with an assist from Verenia Gonzalez, restoring parity at 1-1. The goal energized the home side, which pressed aggressively for the remainder of the contest. Gonzalez nearly added a second in the 52nd minute when her shot struck the post, keeping the match deadlocked.

Chaminade controlled possession for stretches but struggled to convert opportunities into goals. The Silverswords generated seven shots on goal compared to Menlo's four, and held a 19-14 advantage in total
