OAKLAND, Calif. — Oakland defeated Wright St. 2-1 on Friday, extending its winning streak to two games with an early offensive burst that proved decisive. The Golden Grizzlies struck twice in the opening 16 minutes before holding off a late Wright St. rally to secure the victory and improve to 3-7-6 overall.
Andriy Bilous opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, assisted by Gabriel Baylon, giving Oakland an immediate advantage. Tim Allos doubled the lead just 13 minutes later with help from Bilous and Noah Roka, establishing a commanding 2-0 cushion that Wright St. would chase throughout the remainder of the match.
The Raiders, now 2-12-1 after their second consecutive loss, struggled to generate consistent offensive pressure in the first half. Wright St. managed six shots on goal but couldn't convert until Oskar Greven's 84th-minute strike cut the deficit to one. Despite the late push, the visitors couldn't find an equalizer against Oakland's defense, which recorded five saves.
Both teams finished with identical corner kick totals at five apiece, though Oakland dominated shot attempts 16-9. Wright St. showed resilience in the second half with multiple scoring chances, but Oakland goalkeeper Malik Sylvester and the defensive unit held firm when it mattered most.
Roman Kedgley received a yellow card for Wright St. in the 67th minute for unsporting conduct, while Oakland's Tim Allos was cautioned for time-wasting late in the match. The disciplinary records remained even at one card each.
