WORCESTER, Mass. — Westfield State's student-athletes overwhelmed MCLA 4-2 on Friday, extending their winning streak to three games with a dominant first-half performance. The visiting Owls, now 9-3-4 overall, struck twice within three minutes midway through the opening period to establish control before MCLA mounted a second-half comeback that fell short.
Ethan Margolis opened scoring in the 22nd minute, assisted by Dylan Wesley, giving Westfield State an early advantage. Just 47 seconds later, Charlie Anischik doubled the lead at 24:09 to put the Owls firmly in control. Andrew Regnier extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 38th minute with an assist from Matias Otero, effectively deciding the contest before halftime.
MCLA responded with Ashton Morris scoring in the 39th minute, assisted by Luke Muhlestein, providing brief momentum heading into the break. The home team's defensive adjustments proved insufficient against Westfield State's relentless attack, which generated 16 shots on goal compared to MCLA's eight.
Aidan Ferguson sealed the victory in the 61st minute with a goal assisted by both Ethan Margolis and Tim Tkacz, pushing the lead to 4-1. William Bogue scored MCLA's second goal in the 82nd minute, but the deficit proved insurmountable for the struggling home squad, now 3-12 with six consecutive losses.
