CHICO, Calif. — Chico State snapped a two-game losing streak Friday night, defeating visiting Cal St. Monterey Bay 2-1 in a competitive NCAA Division II matchup. The Wildcats improved to 5-6-4 with the victory, while the Otters fell to 4-9-2 after a late consolation goal proved insufficient.
Dominick Rollins Trovato opened the scoring for Chico State in the 26th minute, assisted by Jack Shane. The early goal gave the hosts momentum heading into halftime, though Cal St. Monterey Bay mounted pressure throughout the first half without finding the back of the net.
Dane Peterson extended Chico's advantage to 2-0 in the 46th minute, just seconds into the second half. Shane again provided the assist, giving the Wildcats a commanding position and forcing the Otters to chase the match for the final 45 minutes.
