VALDOSTA, Ga. — Delta St. claimed a 2-1 victory at Valdosta St. on Friday, extending its winning streak to one game while handing the hosts their first loss in three matches. The visiting Lady Statesmen (6-5-4, 5-3-3 conference) overcame an early deficit to secure the road triumph before a regional audience.
Valdosta St. struck first when Tatyana Machado scored in the 28th minute, giving the hosts a 1-0 halftime advantage. The goal appeared to position the home side favorably, but Delta St. emerged from the break with renewed intensity and purpose.
Avery Hooker equalized for Delta St. in the 53rd minute, restoring parity and shifting momentum decisively toward the visitors. Hooker's effort proved pivotal—not only did she level the match, but she also provided the assist on the go-ahead goal minutes later.
