MONTEVALLO, Ala. — Delta St. and Montevallo played to a 1-1 draw Friday night in a competitive NCAA Division II contest. The visiting Statesmen equalized late to secure a point on the road, extending their unbeaten streak to one match while Montevallo remained undefeated in their last two outings.
Seth Acton gave Montevallo an early advantage in the 47th minute, assisted by Tomas Prieto and Dominic Kienzle. The home side controlled possession through much of the first half, generating multiple scoring opportunities. Montevallo's attack created consistent pressure, with shots from Dominic Kienzle, Victor Flores, and Tomas Prieto testing Delta St.'s defense before Acton's breakthrough.
Delta St. responded with resilience in the second half. Ashton Taylor equalized in the 89th minute with an assist from Santi Rossi, denying Montevallo a victory in dramatic fashion. The late goal capped a determined comeback effort by the visitors, who improved to 2-9-3 overall with the result.
Montevallo dominated shot attempts, recording 17 total shots compared to Delta St.'s 10. The hosts also held a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal. However, Delta St. goalkeeper Mason Baglio made nine saves to keep his team in the match, while Montevallo's keeper recorded just two saves. Both teams earned one yellow card, with Tomas Prieto cautioned for unsporting conduct and Logan Funk receiving a caution for Delta St.
