QUINCY, Ill. — Maryville (MO) and Quincy played to a 1-1 draw Friday night in a competitive NCAA Division II contest. The Saints, ranked 10-1-5 overall, equalized after falling behind early, while the Hawks (10-3-3) couldn't find a winner despite controlling stretches of the second half.
Sophia Carter gave Maryville (MO) an early lead in the 20th minute, assisted by Elsa Nilson-Hurtig. The Saints dominated possession in the first half, registering 16 total shot attempts compared to Quincy's five. However, the home team's defense held firm until halftime, keeping the deficit manageable.
Rebecca Rheinheimer equalized for Quincy in the 45th minute, assisted by Alyssa Amaral, just as the first half concluded. The goal energized the Hawks and shifted momentum heading into the break. Both teams made significant lineup adjustments at halftime, with Maryville (MO) replacing five players and Quincy rotating four starters.
