BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA — Pacific Union (CA) earned a 3-1 victory over Cal Maritime on Friday, October 31st, rallying from a one-goal deficit with three unanswered second-half goals. The visiting Pioneers controlled much of the match and capitalized on their offensive pressure after halftime to secure the win.
Cal Maritime struck first when Ciara Kelly scored unassisted in the 6th minute, capitalizing on a goal kick that was immediately converted into a shot. The early advantage gave the home team momentum through the first half, though Pacific Union dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities.
Ryann Van Horn equalized for Pacific Union in the 38th minute with an unassisted goal off a free kick that deflected off the back post before crossing the line. The strike tied the match heading into halftime and shifted momentum decisively toward the visitors.
