Oregon Tech Edges Walla Walla 1-0 Behind Late Tambio Goal

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Oregon Tech claimed a 1-0 road victory over Walla Walla on October 31st, breaking through late in the second half to secure the win. Merrick Tambio scored the decisive goal in the 83rd minute, assisted by Cash Cota, giving the Owls their first lead of the match.

The opening half remained scoreless despite opportunities for both sides. Oregon Tech's Moises Lopez Carillo fired wide left in the ninth minute, while Walla Walla's Eniola Smith tested goalkeeper Harvey Bolland with a shot in the 10th minute that Bolland saved. Juan Lobos created additional pressure for the home team, forcing two saves from Bolland in the 20th minute alone.

Oregon Tech continued generating chances after the break. Lucas Kay-Wong's header attempt in the 36th minute was denied by Sebastian Vargas, and Cash Cota's shot in the 26th minute also drew a save. The Owls maintained offensive momentum through the second half, with Ben Bradshaw earning corner kicks in the 37th and 56th minutes.

Walla Walla mounted resistance throughout, with Paulo Tostado's shot sailing high in the 51st minute and Juan Lobos firing wide in the 63rd minute. However, the home defense could not contain Oregon Tech's late push. Cota's corner kick in the 82nd minute set the stage for the winning goal just seconds later.
