Concord Defeats West Liberty 2-1 Behind Second-Half Goals

ATHENS, W.Va. — Concord improved to 12-3-2 with a 2-1 victory over West Liberty on Saturday, extending its winning streak to one game. The Mountain Lions controlled possession throughout but needed second-half adjustments to break through against the visiting Hilltoppers, who fall to 5-8-4 after their second consecutive loss.

The first half remained scoreless despite Concord's territorial advantage. West Liberty's defense held firm through 45 minutes, though the hosts generated multiple scoring opportunities. Concord's attack created consistent pressure, with shots from Malher Santi Possu, Darian Bradshaw, Erik Lotysz, and Issa El Assal testing the Hilltoppers' goalkeeper, but none found the net before intermission.

Malher Santi Possu opened the scoring in the 39th minute for Concord, breaking the deadlock late in the first half. The goal shifted momentum decisively toward the home side as West Liberty entered halftime trailing 1-0.

Concord doubled its advantage in the 59th minute when Jaden McKree scored, assisted by Toby Evens-Gilham. The Mountain Lions' second goal appeared to put the match beyond reach with 30 minutes remaining.
