RAPID CITY, South Dakota — South Dakota Mines dominated Adams St. 5-1 on Sunday, breaking open the match with four goals in the first half. The Hardrockers improved to 7-7-3 with the decisive victory, while Adams St. fell to 1-14-1 and extended its losing streak to 11 games.
Erik Castanon opened scoring in the 10th minute, assisted by Jacob Miklas. Bergen Loveless doubled the lead moments later at 10:12, set up by Julen Arteaga. Nickolas North extended the advantage to 3-0 in the 18th minute. Arteaga added his own goal in the 19th minute to give South Dakota Mines a commanding 4-0 halftime lead.
Avery Richards provided Adams St.'s lone goal in the 52nd minute, breaking a scoreless second half for the visitors. North sealed the victory with his second goal in the 65th minute, assisted by Miklas.
South Dakota Mines dominated possession and shot attempts, firing 28 shots with 13 on goal compared to Adams St.'s 4 attempts and 2 on goal. The Hardrockers' goalkeeper recorded just one save while Adams St.'s keeper made eight stops. Adams St. committed five yellow cards to South Dakota Mines' one.
