LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Westminster (UT) blanked Colo. Christian 2-0 on Sunday, extending its winning streak to two matches. The Griffins dominated possession and shot attempts throughout the contest, controlling the regional matchup before an undisclosed crowd.
James Miles broke through in the 19th minute, assisted by Jack Cardwell, giving Westminster an early advantage. Tommy Hammons sealed the victory in the 53rd minute off a Miles assist, doubling the lead after halftime.
Westminster's offensive efficiency proved decisive, recording six shots on goal across 12 total attempts. The Griffins also won the corner-kick battle 4-2, maintaining territorial control throughout the match. Colo. Christian managed only five shot attempts and zero shots on goal while committing three yellow cards.
The victory improves Westminster to 9-6-2 overall as the Griffins pursue regional tournament positioning. Colo. Christian falls to 2-12-3 and extends its losing streak to three consecutive matches following defeats to CSU Pueblo and Colorado Mesa.
Westminster returns to action Wednesday against Colorado Mesa at 6 p.m., while Colo. Christian travels to MSU Denver on Wednesday at 8 p.m. seeking to halt its recent skid.
