SPOKANE, WASHINGTON — Gonzaga defeated Oregon St. 4-2 on Saturday, extending its winning streak to two games before 411 spectators. The Bulldogs controlled the match with superior shot volume, outshooting the Beavers 25-12 overall and 10-4 on target to secure the victory.

Gonzaga established early dominance through Katelyn Rigg's goal in the 10th minute, assisted by Samantha Snorsky. Amelia Severn doubled the lead in the 19th minute with help from Olivia Lester, giving the hosts a commanding 2-0 advantage at halftime despite Oregon St.'s defensive efforts.

The second half proved more competitive. Alyssa White pulled Oregon St. within one goal in the 61st minute, but Amelia Severn restored Gonzaga's two-goal cushion in the 65th minute. Kylie Jones sealed the result with a goal in the 80th minute, providing the decisive margin despite late pressure from the visitors.

Oregon St. mounted a late rally through corner kicks and sustained possession, but Gonzaga's goalkeeper made three crucial saves to preserve the lead. The Beavers generated four corner opportunities in the second half yet failed to convert additional chances, with several shots blocked or sailing high.

Mya Sanchez received a yellow card for Oregon St. in the 65th minute for unsporting conduct, while Amelia Severn drew a matching caution for Gonzaga moments later. Both teams made multiple substitutions throughout, with Gonzaga rotating four players at halftime and Oregon St. making tactical changes in the second half.

Gonzaga's corner kick advantage proved significant, earning 10 compared to Oregon St.'s four. The home team's ability to control the tempo and limit Oregon St. to four shots on goal demonstrated superior defensive organization and midfield control throughout the 90 minutes.

The victory improves Gonzaga to 8-9-2 overall, building momentum after last week's 3-1 road win at Pacific. Oregon St. falls to 2-12-5, extending its losing streak to three matches following consecutive defeats to Seattle U and Saint Mary's. The Beavers' defensive vulnerabilities were exposed repeatedly, particularly in transition situations where Gonzaga's forwards capitalized on open space.
